Hello and a warm welcome to this page, which I hope will resonate with owners and managers of Independent businesses, from around the Harrogate District.

IBSC is not designed to suit every independent business — and that is intentional.

If you prefer to operate entirely on your own, view other independent businesses primarily as competitors, or have little interest in collaborating as part of a wider local initiative, IBSC may not be the right fit.

At IBSC we believe that UNITY is our true strength.

IBSC is built for independent businesses that believe collaboration strengthens everyone, that community matters, and that long-term visibility is best achieved together rather than alone.

Our aim is not to include everyone — but to bring together those who share a common ethos and are willing to contribute to something larger than any single venue can on their own.

IBSC isn’t built around individual wins. It’s built around shared progress — where collaboration between independent businesses creates opportunities and successes that wouldn’t exist in isolation.

On 01 April 2026, IBSC Harrogate District launches — igniting a district-wide movement to build the largest unified Supporter base for independent businesses in the area.

In the weeks leading up to launch, we are inviting independent businesses to come together, work collectively, and position themselves to benefit from increased visibility, engagement, and local support.

As a respected and valued independent establishment, you are personally invited to be a Pioneer Member of the first Independent Business Supporters Club (IBSC) in the United Kingdom.

IBSC is strictly a chain-free platform, created exclusively for independent businesses, which will over time provide your venue with direct access and visibility to a large, responsive reservoir of local customers and regular diners.

During periods of economic uncertainty, independent businesses are strongest when they work together.

There is also a growing public awareness that local independents are the backbone of our communities — and that supporting them genuinely matters.

IBSC is a collective effort to draw a clear line — creating a place where local residents can easily discover, support, and champion independent businesses.

At the heart of IBSC Harrogate District will sit the online Directory, acting as a central hub connecting independents with a growing base of local Supporters.

IBSC Harrogate District is projected to grow to a Supporter base of 15,000–20,000 local residents by 2027 (18-65), built exclusively around independent businesses, with no chains or franchises allowed.

To use the old saying -

IBSC isn’t about instant wins or overnight audiences. Building a genuine base of local Supporters takes time, consistency, and trust.

We expect it to take around 15–18 months of sustained campaigning for IBSC Harrogate District to reach its full potential — and we’re upfront about that from day one.

The model of IBSC is that Indie restaurants and retailers will not pay a penny for being positioned in front of this large and engaged audience. Ever.
